General
Q1. What is Best in City?
Best in City (BiC) is a hyperlocal deals platform that connects you with verified local businesses in your city.
Unlike listing platforms where anyone can show up, every business on BiC is physically verified by our on-ground team. We visit the store, check the quality, and only then does it appear on BiC.
When a business runs a deal, you can redeem it by showing a QR code at the store, and the business can track exactly how many customers walked in through BiC.
Q2. How is BiC different from Zomato, magicpin, or Google listings?
Most platforms rely on anonymous reviews and self-reported information. Anyone can list a business, and you never really know what you are walking into.
BiC is different in three ways. First, physical verification: our team personally visits every business before listing. Second, real tracking: deals are redeemed via QR codes, so businesses see actual walk-ins, not just clicks. Third, demand generation: instead of waiting for people to search, BiC broadcasts deals to your city through social media and the app, reaching customers who were not even looking yet.
Q3. Where is BiC available?
BiC is currently live in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh as part of our pilot programme. We are verifying businesses neighbourhood by neighbourhood and expanding across the city.
If you are in another city and want BiC to come there, let us know at support@bestincity.com. We use this demand data to plan our next launches.
Q4. Is BiC free to use?
For consumers: completely free. Browse deals, claim them, redeem at stores, no charges ever.
For merchants: the pilot programme is free with no lock-in. You get physical verification, professional content capture, a featured post, inclusion in our Deals Radar, and a 7-day pilot run, all at zero cost.
Future pricing for premium features (boosts, extended campaigns) will be communicated well in advance.
Q5. Who runs Best in City?
Best in City is a venture of Teknikoz Software Private Limited, a company incorporated in India.
Teknikoz builds technology products focused on connecting local communities with the businesses that serve them. BiC is headquartered in India with its pilot operations in Jabalpur.
For Customers
Q6. How do I redeem a deal?
Find a deal you like on BiC social media or the BiC app, save or claim the QR code, walk into the store, and show the QR at the counter.
The staff scans it with their BiC app, and your deal is applied instantly. The whole process takes under 10 seconds at the counter.
If the QR scan does not work for any reason (poor lighting, screen glare), you can give the staff the fallback text code shown below the QR. It works the same way.
Q7. Do I need the BiC app to use a deal?
Not necessarily. In the current phase, you can redeem deals by saving the QR code from our social media posts (Instagram, WhatsApp) and showing it at the store.
When the BiC consumer app launches, claiming deals through the app gives you a personal QR code, expiry reminders, a history of your redeemed deals, and the ability to rate businesses, plus referral rewards when you share deals with friends.
Q8. What does 'BiC Verified' mean? Can I trust these businesses?
When you see the BiC Verified badge, it means our team has physically visited that business, checked that it exists at the listed address, assessed basic quality standards, and confirmed they are a legitimate operation.
There are three levels: BiC Verified (location and legitimacy confirmed), Verified+ (higher quality standards met), and BiC Pick (an editorial recommendation from our team, the best in its category).
These badges are not paid placements. They are earned.
Q9. What if a merchant refuses to honour a deal I showed?
Every deal has specific terms: valid dates, times, minimum spend, eligible items.
If your deal meets all the terms and the merchant still refuses, contact us at support@bestincity.com or message us on WhatsApp. Merchants who repeatedly refuse valid redemptions risk suspension from the platform.
Most issues happen when a deal has expired, it is outside the valid time window, or the redemption limit has been reached. Check the deal terms before visiting to avoid disappointment.
Q10. Is my personal information safe? Can merchants see who I am?
Your privacy is a core principle at BiC. When you redeem a deal, the merchant sees that a redemption happened, not who you are.
They see details like Redemption #48 confirmed at 2:45 PM, never your name, phone number, or any personal details.
The only way a merchant sees your name is if you choose to write a review, and even then it is shown as your first name and last initial (for example, Rohan S.).
We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not track your location in the background. Full details are in our Privacy Policy at bestincity.com/privacy.
For Merchants / Business Owners
Q11. How does the verification process work?
Once you sign up for the pilot, our Jabalpur field team contacts you to schedule a visit, usually within the same week.
The visit takes 15-20 minutes. We verify your business location, check basic quality and hygiene standards, capture professional photos and short videos for your BiC profile, and help you pick a margin-safe offer for your pilot run.
After the visit, your BiC Verified badge goes live and your first deal is broadcast within 48 hours. No paperwork, no listing fees, no long onboarding forms.
Q12. What kind of deals can I create?
BiC supports seven types of offers: percentage discount, flat amount off, free item or add-on, bundle deal, buy-one-get-one, referral reward, and limited quantity flash deals.
Each deal can have conditions such as valid dates, time windows, specific days, minimum spend, eligible items, and a cap on total redemptions.
You can use ready-made templates to go live in under 60 seconds, or build a custom offer from scratch.
Q13. How do I know if BiC is actually sending me customers?
Every deal has a unique QR code. When a customer walks in and shows the QR, your staff scans it with the BiC merchant app.
That scan is logged with a timestamp, which staff member processed it, and which deal was redeemed.
Your analytics dashboard shows total redemptions, daily trends, which offers are performing best, and which days and times get the most traffic. It is a verified count of customers who came through your door because of BiC.
Q14. What if I want to pause or stop a deal?
You are in full control. From the BiC merchant app, you can pause any active deal instantly and redemptions stop immediately.
You can resume it later, let it expire naturally on its end date, edit paused offers before resuming, or delete draft offers anytime.
There is no penalty for pausing or stopping.
Q15. Can my staff scan QR codes without seeing my business analytics?
Yes. BiC has role-based access.
As the business owner, you get full access: offer creation, analytics, staff management, profile editing, and settings.
Staff members get scanner-only access. They can scan and confirm redemptions, but cannot create or edit offers, view analytics, manage settings, or see business performance data.
You invite staff by phone number, and you can deactivate their access at any time.
